Understanding Serial Number Verification Statuses

When verifying a Zyxel product serial number using the serial number verification tool, different statuses may be displayed depending on the product's warranty, lifecycle, licensing, or participation in a special program.

This article explains the meaning of each verification status and provides additional information where applicable. Understanding these statuses helps determine whether a product is eligible for warranty service, RMA, special support programs, or requires additional verification.

Note: Some statuses are informational only and do not necessarily indicate whether the product is or is not covered by warranty. Always review any additional information displayed together with the verification result.

Standard

The standard Zyxel warranty policy covers the product. Warranty eligibility depends on the product model, purchase date, and applicable regional warranty terms.

Enter the device serial number and click Check to view the product information and available support options:

Verify that the detected product model matches your device. Review the Support Status and Warranty Status to confirm the product's eligibility.

  • Download the latest firmware and documentation directly from the result page.

  • Select More Downloads to access additional software, documentation, and product resources.

  • Click Continue to view the available support options for the verified product.

Warranty Expired

The product warranty has expired. If you believe your device is still covered by warranty, you can continue to submit an RMA request by providing proof of purchase. Promotional offers, such as discount vouchers, may also be displayed when available. For more information, please refer to the following article: here

Limited Lifetime Warranty

The product is covered by Zyxel's Limited Lifetime Warranty. Coverage is subject to the Limited Lifetime Warranty policy and product lifecycle. For more information, please refer to the following article: here

Limited Lifetime Warranty (EOL Announced)

This result indicates that the device is covered by Zyxel's Limited Lifetime Warranty and has an established End-of-Life (EOL) reference date.

In addition to the standard product information, the page displays the device's Support Status, Warranty Status, available downloads, and the EMEA Limited Lifetime Warranty reference date. This date represents when the product entered the EMEA Limited Lifetime Warranty period and when the warranty end date is calculated.

The displayed Warranty until date indicates the expected expiration of the Limited Lifetime Warranty based on the product's EOL announcement and the applicable Zyxel warranty policy. The page also provides guidance on how the date is determined and includes a link to the EOL Product Table for additional lifecycle information.

Note: The displayed EOL reference date is provided for informational purposes. If you believe the warranty or support status is incorrect, click Continue to submit your request for a manual review by Zyxel Support. For more information, please refer to the following article: here

Trade Up

This result indicates that the device previously participated in the TradeUp program and was replaced with another product under the program terms.

The page may still temporarily display the product model, current warranty information, support status, firmware, documentation, and other downloads. However, the replaced device will be removed from warranty and support eligibility.

Under the applicable TradeUp terms, warranty and support services remain available for 6 months from the TradeUp request approval date. After this period, the device will no longer be eligible for technical support, warranty service, or RMA requests.

Note: This message applies only to devices that were registered and replaced through the TradeUp program.

Scrapped Device

The product has been marked as Support and Warranty Expired. This status is typically assigned to products that have reached the end of their service lifecycle or have been removed from active support. The product is no longer eligible for warranty, RMA, or technical support services.

Examples: This status may be assigned if a device participated in a Trade Up program or was replaced through an RMA process, while the original unit remained with the customer.

Next Business Day (NBD) Service

This result includes the standard product information, including the detected model, Support Status, Warranty Status, and available firmware, documentation, and additional downloads.

In addition, a notification confirms that a Next Business Day (NBD) Service License has been successfully activated for the device. The NBD service provides priority processing and next business day shipment of eligible replacement units, helping to minimize service downtime in the event of a hardware failure.

Note: The NBD notification is displayed only for devices with an active Next Business Day Service License. It is shown in addition to the standard warranty and support information and does not replace the product's warranty coverage. For more information, please refer to the following article: here

OpenWRT Support Program

This result indicates that the device was enrolled in Zyxel's OpenWRT Support Program.

By migrating the device from the official Zyxel firmware to OpenWRT, the customer accepted the program terms. As a result, the device is no longer eligible for Zyxel technical support, warranty services, or RMA. The migration is permanent and cannot be reversed to the original Zyxel firmware.

Note: Devices enrolled in the OpenWRT Support Program are permanently excluded from Zyxel warranty, technical support, and RMA services, even if the original warranty period has not yet expired. For more information, please refer to the following article: here

License Service Serial Number

This result indicates that the entered serial number belongs to a Zyxel License Service rather than a physical hardware device.

License serial numbers are used to identify software or subscription services (for example, UTM, VPN, or other licensed features) and do not contain hardware warranty or product information. As a result, firmware downloads, documentation, support status, and warranty details are not available for this serial number.

To check warranty, support eligibility, or product information, use the serial number of the hardware device to which the license is assigned (for example, a USG FLEX H firewall).

Note: License Service serial numbers cannot be used to verify hardware warranty or create hardware support requests. Always use the serial number of the associated Zyxel device when requesting support or checking warranty status.

Migration Support

This result indicates that the device was covered by Zyxel's Limited Lifetime Warranty, but the applicable warranty and support period has now expired following the product's End-of-Life (EOL).

The page displays the product information, Migration Support status, the product's EOL date, and the calculated Warranty until date. Once the Limited Lifetime Warranty period has expired, the device is no longer eligible for technical support or RMA services.

To assist customers with product replacement, the page may also display a migration offer, such as a promotional discount for the purchase of a newer Zyxel product.

Note: The Migration Support status indicates that the device has reached the end of its support lifecycle. Warranty and RMA services are no longer available, although migration offers or other promotional information may be displayed depending on the region or active programs. For information about the recommended migration device, please refer to the following article (Migration Path). If you need further assistance choosing a replacement device, please contact Zyxel Technical Support.

Service Provider (SP) Device

Provider Managed Device

This result indicates that the device was originally distributed through an Internet Service Provider (ISP), Mobile Network Provider, or an authorized reseller under a provider-specific distribution program.

Although the serial number is valid and the product information is displayed, Zyxel does not provide direct warranty or technical support for these devices. Support and warranty services are handled exclusively by the provider or reseller from whom the device was obtained.

Customers should contact their ISP, Mobile Network Provider, or the original reseller for any warranty claims, technical support, or replacement requests.

Note: These devices are covered under provider-specific support agreements. The Warranty Status may display N/A or Warranty through Reseller only, indicating that warranty services are managed by the original sales channel rather than Zyxel Support.
