USG FLEX H series - Introduction of the Entry Defense Pack for USG FLEX H Series

As of October 21, 2024, Zyxel is introducing a new licensing model for its USG FLEX H Series devices (including models such as the USG FLEX 50H/HP). All new "Device Only SKU" installations will now include a 30-day trial of the Gold Security Pack (GSP) along with a 366-day Entry Defense Pack (EDP). This change is designed to offer essential, cost-effective security coverage for customers who prefer simplified, affordable device protection.

Key Points of the Change

• New USG FLEX H Series devices registered after October 21, 2024, will automatically receive the 30-day Gold Security Pack trial and the 366-day Entry Defense Pack.
• The 366-day Entry Defense Pack includes a Reputation Filter, a SecuReporter, and a Priority Support. 
• Existing registered devices will not be affected by this change.
• Organizations with the Nebula Pro Pack can request direct support​
• If a site has activated the EDP or GSP on the USG FLEX H Series, direct support is available for that site, even if the organization only has the Nebula Base or Plus Pack
• Firmware requirement: uOS v1.30

1. What happens if customers renew a Gold Security Pack before the Entry Defense Pack expires?
   When a customer renews a Gold Security Pack (GSP) before their EDP expires, the GSP will take priority, and the remaining EDP license will be put on hold. Once the GSP expires, the EDP will resume automatically.
2. Will any rework or changes to product numbers (PNs) be required for this update?
   No rework or product number changes are necessary. Zyxel will manage this change through its backend licensing system, ensuring a seamless transition for new devices.
3. What happens if a customer buys a device before October 21, 2024, but installs it after this date?
   Devices installed after October 21, 2024, will receive the new license package, which means they will automatically receive the 30-day GSP trial plus 366 days of EDP.
4. What will happen to bundles currently in stock with distributors and resellers?
   All non-registered devices in distribution channels as of October 21, 2024, will be converted to include the Entry Defense Pack once registered.
5. Will this update apply to devices managed through Nebula?
   Yes, this change will apply to all USG FLEX H Series models managed via Nebula, including the upcoming USG FLEX 50H/HP models, which will be launched in January 2025.
6. What will happen when using the Trial Reset function from the OP Tool?
   Devices registered before October 21, 2024, will continue to receive the 30-day Gold Security Pack trial when the Trial Reset function is used, and no conversion to EDP will occur.
