This step by step guide shows how to turned on the Load Balancing feature and configured a limit (Max Station Number = 1) on connecting only one client to the wireless access point. Why, despite the settings, more than one client can connect to this access point?
Wireless Load Balancing, a wireless load balancing function, is designed to delay client responses when an access point is overloaded. At the same time, new customers will be able to connect to this access point.
But let's take a closer look at the Disassociate station when overloaded parameter (Disable client when access point is overloaded) in the Load Balancing settings.
The Disassociate station when overloaded mechanism on the access point works as follows:
1. When the access point is overloaded, it checks the idle time on the connected clients and selects the station with the largest idle time value as the client to disconnect.
2. If the access point cannot determine the highest idle time, then the system will allocate the station with the weakest signal level for shutdown.
3. If the selected station meets the above conditions, i.e. it has the longest idle time and the weakest signal level, but it is already present in the special internal buffer "kicked cache" on the device (this means that the station has already been selected as a client to disconnect), in this case the access point will detect another station to turn off.
If a particular station is always connected to only one access point, this station will not be selected to disconnect from that access point.
