Jumbo frames are defined as packets that are larger than 1500 bytes.
All Zyxel enterprise managed switches support jumbo frames up to 9K bytes.
There are only a few exceptions of switches not offering jumbo frame compatibility, such as the ES-1100-8P. Other ES-1xxx-Switches offer Jumbo Frame rates up to 2K.
Here are some products which have a higher ability:
XGS4600 series: 12K bytes
XS3800-28: 12K bytes for 10 Gbps, 9K bytes for 2.5 Gbps
XS3700-24: 12K bytes
These values cannot be modified.
It is important to understand that the Zyxel switch can FORWARD and ROUTE jumbo frames but cannot handle jumbo frames destined to the switch itself.
If we try to ping the Zyxel switch using a packet size of 2000 bytes, the switch will not be able to respond to this ICMP request. However, using the same command to ping a device across the Zyxel switch will be successful.
