Why does the session counter in ZyWALL / USG show different values on the Dashboard and Session Monitor web configurator pages?

This article is to explain why in the ZyWALL / USG series security gateways the number of sessions does not match with the Dashboard and Session Monitor web configurator pages.

Indeed, different values can be observed on the Dashboard and Session Monitor web configurator pages.

In the ZyWALL / USG series devices there are 2 different methods for counting the number of sessions.

On the Session Monitor page, only the number of confirmed sessions is displayed, i.e. which were transmitted (filtered by forward ).

On the Dashboard page displays the total number of sessions, including validated (confirmed), unconfirmed (unconfirmed) and dying (dying) session.
So these are two different counters.
