I am configuring a Zyxel USG FLEX H Series firewall. Why do I sometimes see differences between Nebula and the local web interface?
In this tutorial, we will demonstrate the differences between a local interface and Nebula using the example of creating a network interface, specifically when creating one, we need to pay attention to the differences in the DHCP configuration.
The behavior described is expected and is related to several factors that we would like to clarify:
- Features that were previously available only through the local interface are now becoming partially or fully accessible in Nebula. This is part of our ongoing effort to simplify management and provide greater flexibility.
- Some functions currently operate differently depending on the interface. This is a temporary situation: our team is actively working on unifying all functionalities to ensure a consistent and seamless user experience across platforms.
- Certain features are available exclusively through Nebula, as they are based on cloud technologies and cannot be implemented locally.

Create a Network Interface through the Local Web GUI
When creating a network interface through the device's local GUI, the following fields are automatically populated upon selecting “Use Fixed IP Address” and enabling the “DHCP Server” option:
- Start IP
- Pool Size
- Default Gateway
These default values can typically be used as-is, unless specific configuration requirements dictate otherwise.
Create a Network Interface Using Nebula
Create a Network Interface through the Nebula
When creating a Network Interface in the Nebula interface, after filling in “IPv4 address/Network Mask” and activating “DHCP Server”, the following fields are automatically filled in:
- Start IP: - must be filled in manually
- Pool Size: - must be filled in manually
- Default gateway (Default Router): - must be left blank
