This depends on setup scenario.
Via Multy Pro Mesh
If using a supported model (EMG3425, EMG6726, EMG6765, VMG4825 and/or VMG9823) provided by your internet service provider (ISP), the device supports* Multy Pro mesh wireless. Use the WAP6804, provided by ISP, to create a mesh network to extend your wireless broadcast.
*Your device also needs to be on a firmware that supports Multy Pro. Not all ISPs support Multy Pro. Check with your ISP if you have the latest version of firmware compatible with their service. You can find the compatible firmware for each device on the Multy Pro app page:
If you are running Ethernet cable from the VMG/EMG, you can use any wireless access point in the market. All traffic from the AP to the VMG/EMG will be standard communication. Make sure both VMG/EMG and your chosen AP are using different wireless channel so they do not cause interference with each other. The VMG/EMG devices do not support roaming, outside of Multy Pro configuration, so wireless handoff (connection from VMG/EMG to other AP or vice versa) will depend on mobile client.
Via Universal Repeater
Most universal repeaters on the market should work to extend the Wi-Fi broadcast. Some things to do before attempting to establish the connection with a universal repeater are as follows:
- Make sure the universal repeater is running the most up to date version of firmware/software
- Make sure the router is running the most current version of firmware/software
- Make sure the router is using WPA2 (PSK) type encryption
- Make sure the location where you plan to install the universal repeater is within 70% or better signal strength (from main Wi-Fi broadcast)
Wireless handoff between universal repeater and Zyxel router may not work, the task of switching from a weak or unstable connection between wireless broadcasts will depend the mobile device.
